Hi! I'm Hannah

Wife, homemaker, adventurer, urban homesteader, and Christ follower.

A country girl at heart, I’m doing best to make my farm life roots fit in to city life.  I’m always working on projects around the house or in the garden.  If I get bored, you’ll probably find me looking up a new fermented recipe to try my hand at.  I love writing and want to inspire you on your homemaking and gardening adventures.

Gardening

My husband and I were blessed to purchase a home at the beginning of this year.  When Covid hit, my husband told me to order as many seeds as I wanted.  Of course, I took him up on the offer.  After growing up gardening with my mom, I was excited to start my own garden.  I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned along the way and tips for your urban gardening.

One plant we grew that both my husband and I fell in love with is Nasturtiums.  They add a pop of color to the garden and are so vibrant and cheerful.  I don’t think we’ll ever plant a garden without them.  Hence, the inspiration for the name “Northern Nasturtium”.

Beating Eczema and Migraines

Another concept I recently discovered is traditional cooking.  It all started when I wanted to cook rice that wouldn’t give my husband or I an upset stomach.  That led me down a path from which I won’t be turning back.  The idea is to prepare food in such a way that it is easily digestible and highly nutritious.  Along the way, I discovered more about the root cause of eczema I’ve struggled with since junior high.  I’ve also been able to significantly reduce my migraines.  I hope that the traditionally prepared recipes I share can help you improve your health as well.
